How to Use the WhiskeyMate News Feed (iOS & Android)
Stay up-to-date with the latest whiskey news and articles
Overview
The WhiskeyMate News Feed keeps you informed about the latest whiskey-related headlines, press releases, and community discussions. Whether you’re on iOS or Android, you can browse articles, filter out unwanted sources, and interact with content in real time.
Steps to Access the News Feed
- Open the News Section:
From the Collections View, look for the Newspaper Icon found in the upper right-hand corner. Tapping it will load the current WhiskeyMate news articles. - Browse Articles:
Scroll through the feed to see curated articles from various sources. Each article typically shows a headline, a brief description, the source, and a publication date. If the feed takes a moment to load, you may see a loading indicator while content is fetched. - Read Full Stories (Optional):
If an article has a "Full Article" link or button, tapping it opens the source website in your browser, letting you read the entire piece. - Filter Sources:
If you only want articles from certain providers (e.g., specific whiskey publications or blogs), look for a Filter or Settings button (often a funnel or slider icon). You can toggle which sources are active so the feed only shows content from your preferred outlets. - Interact with Articles:
Depending on your device and subscription status, you can often:- Like / Dislike the article to show your opinion.
- Share it with friends via text, email, or social media, letting them see the same link you did.
- Report if you feel the content is inappropriate or violates guidelines.
- Load More News:
If you’ve reached the end of the feed but want older articles, tap "Load More". This retrieves additional articles from the next time range, letting you explore further into the past. - Refreshing the Feed:
You can typically pull down on the list (or tap the refresh icon) to fetch the latest articles, ensuring your feed is always current.
Troubleshooting & Tips
- Slow or No Load: Check your internet connection. If the feed won’t load, refreshing or switching networks (Wi-Fi vs. mobile data) may help.
- Filtering Issues: If you turned off multiple sources and aren’t seeing new content, revisit the Filter Settings to confirm you haven’t disabled every available news feed.
- Free vs. Premium Users: Some ad placements may appear in the feed if you’re not a Premium user. Upgrading to Premium removes them.
- Reporting Content: Make sure to provide a reason if you flag an article. This helps moderators address inappropriate or misleading content more efficiently.
