Managing, Editing, and Sharing WhiskeyMate Recipes
How to organize, customize, and share your favorite drink recipes
Overview
WhiskeyMate includes a Saved Recipes area where you can browse built-in default recipes, save your own recipes, and share recipes using a universal link.
Recipe sources: My Recipes vs Default Recipes
- My Recipes: your personal recipes saved to your account (stored in Firestore under
recipes). - Default Recipes: built-in templates that ship with the app (local list). You can browse them and copy one into My Recipes to customize it.
Copy a recipe
Use Copy to create a personal version in My Recipes. Copying is the recommended way to customize a built-in default recipe.
Edit and save
- Edit is available for recipes in My Recipes (including recipes you copied).
- Edit screens let you change the title, ingredients, instructions, and optional tips, then Save.
Delete a recipe
You can delete recipes from My Recipes. Default recipes are built-in templates and aren’t deleted; you can delete your copied version instead.
Share a recipe (universal link)
Use Share to share a recipe link using your device’s share sheet. On both iOS and Android, recipe links resolve by looking up the recipe in the recipes collection.
- Best practice: Share recipes from My Recipes (or copy a default recipe first, then share your copy).
- If the recipient has WhiskeyMate: the link can open in-app and show the shared recipe.
- If the recipe was deleted: the link may open but the recipe won’t load.
Troubleshooting
- Link opens but recipe won’t load: The recipe may have been deleted, you may be offline, or you may need to sign in.
- No “My Recipes” showing: Make sure you’re signed in; personal recipes are tied to your account.
