Regions and Collection Photo Reliability in iOS 1.31

Overview

In iOS 1.31, WhiskeyMate adds region-aware metadata for bottles and improves the reliability of collection photos through background healing and local-first loading.

Region-Aware Metadata

• Region Picker: Choose from curated regions that adapt to spirit and whiskey type (e.g., Kentucky, Islay, Highlands, Oaxaca).
• End-to-end support: Region appears in entry, edit, detail, and search/filter flows.
• Future-friendly: Backed by a RegionCatalog so new regions can be added without UI churn.

Self-Healing Collection Photos

• Background validation: The app periodically checks collection image URLs and flags broken links.
• Local-first recovery: When possible, images are re-uploaded from on-device cache to restore missing photos.
• Smoother browsing: Collection tabs and grids prefer cached images to reduce flicker and improve offline behavior.

Entry Form Safeguards

• Consistent defaults: Spirit Type and Whiskey Type are re-applied on fresh entries and reset operations.
• Better suggestions: Flavor profile and region suggestions stay aligned with your preferred defaults.
