How to Manage Your Profile & Preferences in WhiskeyMate (iOS & Android)

Customize account settings, notification preferences, default fields, and more

Overview

The Profile screen is where you manage your account settings and app preferences in WhiskeyMate. This includes Premium status, default entry preferences, layout preferences, notification controls, and account security actions like password reset, logout, and account deletion.

Open Profile

• iOS: Open the Profile tab (Profile is the in-app screen titled Profile).
• Android: Open the Profile screen from the app’s navigation (titled Profile).

Premium & subscriptions

• iOS: The Profile screen shows either Go Premium (if you’re not Premium) or Manage Subscription (if you are). It also surfaces a storage-capacity indicator for non-Premium users and provides the in-app subscription UI.
• Android: The Profile screen includes Premium status and a path to Premium benefits/pricing and subscription management.

Layout preferences

• Collections View Style:
  • iOS: Choose Default or one of several grid layouts (Grid 1x–4x).
  • Android: Choose between Default and Grid.

Default preferences (data-entry helpers)

• Default Spirit Type & Subtype: Set your most-used spirit type and whiskey subtype so new entries can start with your preferred defaults.
• Link ABV & Proof: When enabled, entering one value can calculate the other in the add/edit flows.
• Bottle Volume default: Toggle the default bottle volume between 750ml and 700ml.
• Show Collection Value: Toggle whether collection value is displayed in the collection view.
  • iOS note: Enabling this setting can require re-authentication.

Notification settings

Profile includes notification preference toggles (including a “Toggle All” option) for categories like app updates, price alerts, comments, news, reminders, and marketing. These preferences are stored on your account and used by the mobile apps to control notification delivery.

Account details

• Name: Your display name is shown in Profile. If it’s missing, WhiskeyMate prompts you to set it (this is also required for some features like sharing).
• Email: Your signed-in email is shown on the Profile screen.

Password reset (email/password accounts)

• iOS: If you’re signed in with email/password, Profile offers a Reset Password action that opens the in-app password reset screen.
• Android: Profile can send a password reset email via Firebase Auth for email/password accounts.

Delete account (permanent)

• iOS: Profile includes a Delete Account section that requires authentication before deletion. It deletes your Firestore user data and then deletes the Firebase Auth user.
• Android: Profile includes a Delete Account action. If Firebase requires a “recent login”, the app will prompt you to re-authenticate before deletion.

Log out

• iOS: Profile provides a Log Out button.
• Android: Profile provides a Log Out action with a confirmation dialog.

Legal & links

Profile includes links to WhiskeyMate legal pages (Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, etc.). Android renders these as external links to whiskeymate.net; iOS also includes a Legal section.
