How to Add a New Bottle in WhiskeyMate (iOS & Android)

<h2>Overview</h2> <p>Adding a bottle to WhiskeyMate lets you track core details (brand, subtitle, barcode/ID, images, notes, and more). On iOS and Android, bottle entry happens from the <strong>Add</strong> tab (the <strong>+</strong> icon).</p> <h2>Steps to add a bottle</h2> <ol> <li><strong>Open Add</strong>: Tap <strong>Add</strong> (the <strong>+</strong> tab) from the bottom navigation.</li> <li><strong>Set the barcode / ID</strong>: <ul> <li><strong>Scan</strong>: Tap <strong>Scan</strong> and grant camera permission when prompted.</li> <li><strong>Type/paste</strong>: You can also enter the barcode manually.</li> <li><strong>No barcode?</strong> Use <strong>Generate</strong> to create a unique WhiskeyMate ID (starts with <code>WM-</code>).</li> </ul> <p><strong>Note</strong>: A barcode/ID is required to save a bottle entry (scan, type, or generate one).</p> </li> <li><strong>Choose a collection</strong>: Select which collection the bottle belongs to. If you don’t have any collections yet, create a collection first.</li> <li><strong>Fill in required fields</strong>: At minimum, enter <strong>Brand</strong> and <strong>Subtitle</strong> (these are required on current builds).</li> <li><strong>Add photos (optional)</strong>: <ul> <li><strong>iOS</strong>: Add front/back images from your photo library or camera (permissions apply).</li> <li><strong>Android</strong>: Choose from device or take a photo; when a barcode/ID is present, Android can also offer a <strong>WhiskeyMate Gallery</strong> option for more picture choices.</li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Save</strong>: Tap <strong>Save to Collection</strong> (iOS) or the save action in the Android form. While saving (and especially while uploading images) you may see a brief <strong>Saving…</strong> / progress indicator.</li> </ol> <h2>Limits (free vs Premium)</h2> <ul> <li><strong>Free bottle limit</strong>: On current builds, non-Premium users can be limited to <strong>100</strong> unique bottles. When you hit the cap, saving new bottles is blocked until you upgrade.</li> <li><strong>iOS capacity credits (if available)</strong>: iOS can allow saving beyond the cap if you have capacity credits available; credits are checked during the save flow.</li> </ul> <h2>Tips</h2> <ul> <li><strong>Start simple</strong>: A barcode/ID + brand + subtitle is enough to begin; you can add more fields later.</li> <li><strong>Keep your barcode clean</strong>: Avoid special characters—clients validate barcodes for illegal characters.</li> </ul>
