Understanding the WhiskeyMate Price Stats View

<h2>Overview</h2> <p><strong>Price Statistics</strong> shows how your bottle’s entered price compares to community-wide price data for the same barcode. It’s meant as a quick reference (not a guarantee of market value), and it becomes more useful as more people enter prices.</p> <h2>Where to find it</h2> <ul> <li><strong>iOS</strong>: Open a bottle’s detail screen and scroll to the <strong>Price Statistics</strong> section.</li> <li><strong>Android</strong>: Open a bottle’s detail screen and scroll to the price stats card.</li> </ul> <h2>What you’re seeing</h2> <ul> <li><strong>Low / Average / High</strong>: The community <em>min</em>, <em>mean</em>, and <em>max</em> prices for that bottle (from the aggregated <code>whiskeyStats</code> document for the barcode).</li> <li><strong>My/This Price</strong>: Your bottle’s <strong>Price</strong> field displayed above the bar and marked with a dot on the scale.</li> <li><strong>Count</strong>: A line like “Based on X bottles in the database” showing how many price entries contribute to the community stats.</li> </ul> <h2>How to interpret it</h2> <ul> <li>If your price dot is near <strong>Low</strong>, you’re below the community range.</li> <li>If it’s near <strong>Average</strong>, you’re close to the community mean.</li> <li>If it’s near <strong>High</strong>, you’re above the community range.</li> <li>WhiskeyMate also highlights your price when it’s above the community mean (color cues can vary by platform theme).</li> </ul> <h2>Open Detailed Stats</h2> <p>You can open <strong>Detailed Stats</strong> to see deeper comparisons and price trend charts:</p> <ul> <li><strong>iOS</strong>: Tap <strong>Detailed Stats -&gt;</strong> in the Price Statistics section footer.</li> <li><strong>Android</strong>: Tap the card (or the <strong>Detailed Statistics -&gt;</strong> link) to navigate.</li> </ul> <h2>Troubleshooting &amp; tips</h2> <ul> <li><strong>No community stats yet</strong>: If the database doesn’t have stats for a barcode, you may see <strong>0</strong> values and a count of <strong>0</strong> until the community data exists.</li> <li><strong>No price entered</strong>: If you haven’t entered a price for your bottle, the view can display <strong>$0.00</strong> for “My/This Price”. Add a price in the bottle detail/edit flow to make the comparison meaningful.</li> <li><strong>Regional variation</strong>: Prices vary by region, taxes, store type, and availability—treat the range as a guideline.</li> </ul>
