Navigating & Interacting with the Collections View

Layouts, grid vs. list, and bottle actions for your whiskey collections

Overview

The Collections View in WhiskeyMate provides an intuitive way to browse and manage your whiskey collections (and other spirits). Depending on your platform—iOS or Android—it offers various view toggles (photo vs. text list, grid vs. list), swipe/context menus, and built-in navigation to jump among different collections or the Whiskey Feed.

Key Features

  1. Collection Photo/List Layout (iOS)
    • Photo vs. Text Toggle: Use the button in the upper right corner to switch between a photo-centric grid and a more text-heavy list view.
    • Default Layout: If you prefer a specific layout (e.g., photo list), you can set it as your default in Profile so it’s always selected at launch.
  2. Activate Grid View
    • iOS: Toggling from list view to grid view is done in the same top-right menu, letting you fit multiple bottle thumbnails per row.
    • Android: A dedicated button (grid icon vs. list icon) in the top bar switches between grid and list. Preferences are stored so you’ll see your preferred layout next time.
  3. Collections Navigation
    • iOS: Arrow buttons or swipe gestures in the photo list/grid let you move between multiple collections or the Whiskey Feed. You can see different cover images or stats as you swipe.
    • Android: A horizontally scrollable "pager" or quick selector allows you to pick different collections. Or use a menu to jump among them. If using the Wish List or Shared Collections, the UI adjusts accordingly.
  4. Bottle Actions
    • iOS Swipe / Press & Hold: In list view, swiping a row reveals extra actions like edit or remove. In grid view, a long-press (press & hold) triggers context menu actions, e.g., rating, sharing, or reporting.
    • Android Buttons / Long Press: Instead of swiping, each list item may have button icons (edit, share, etc.). In grid mode, long-pressing an item typically shows context menu options (report, rating, remove) as well.
