Shared Collections View: Browsing & Interacting with Shared Collections
View, navigate, and manage whiskey collections shared by other users
Overview
Shared Collections lets you browse collections that other WhiskeyMate users share with you. Access is controlled by the collection owner, so you may see a collection while access is pending, or you may only see it after the owner has accepted your request (depending on platform and how you arrived there).
Access states you may see
- Requested: access has been requested and is waiting on the owner.
- Accepted: access is granted and you can browse the collection’s bottles.
- Rejected: the owner denied access.
- Revoked: the owner removed access after it was previously granted.
- Deleted: you removed the shared collection from your own list (you can request again later by opening the link again).
iOS: browsing shared collections
- Paging between shared collections: if you have multiple shared collections, you can swipe between them and use previous/next navigation.
- If access is accepted: you can see the shared collection’s cover image(s), browse bottles in a grid, open bottle details, and (from the bottle context menu) actions like comment/report/rate may be available.
- If access is not accepted yet: iOS shows a status panel (for example: Requested / Rejected / Revoked) and you won’t see the full bottle list until access is accepted.
- Wish List preview (if the shared collection has one): if the shared collection includes a wish list, iOS can show a horizontal “Wish List” section.
- Remove a shared collection: iOS includes a Remove Collection button (not shown for the built-in default shared collections). This sets your share status to
deletedfor that collection.
Android: shared collections
- Where it lives: the bottom-nav Share tab opens the shared collections experience.
- Requesting access: the shared collections view includes a Request Collection Access row that shares a request link (so you can send it to a mate/owner).
- Deep link behavior: when you open a shared collection link, Android loads that shared collection and automatically requests access if your share is not already
accepted. - Owner approvals: if you’re the owner and there are pending share requests on your collections, Android can show an alert dialog to approve or reject them.
Price/value visibility depends on owner settings
Owners can choose whether to share price/value data on a per-share basis. On iOS, shared collection value totals are only shown when sharePriceData is enabled for your share.
Default shared collections (first-time experience)
If you don’t have any real shared collections yet, WhiskeyMate may show a pair of default shared collections as placeholders so you can preview how shared collections work.
Troubleshooting
- Shared collection not appearing: confirm you’re signed in to the correct account and that the owner accepted your request.
- Name required: some flows require you to set a profile name before requesting/accessing shared collections.
