Detailed Bottle Documentation in WhiskeyMate
Track and manage every aspect of your spirits in one place
Overview
WhiskeyMate lets you document each bottle with incredible precision, ensuring you never lose track of important details. From front/back images to proof, finishing casks, and flavor profiles, this feature enables a thorough record of every spirit—whiskey or otherwise.
Core Capabilities
- Front and Back Images: Capture both sides of the bottle for easy identification.
- Collection Association: Decide which collection(s) the bottle belongs to (e.g., Bourbon Shelf, Scotch Cabinet, or Tequila Corner).
- Barcode Scanning: Quickly scan and fetch bottle details if available, or manually enter a barcode for organization.
- Brand and Subtitle: Label your bottle with brand name (e.g., Maker’s Mark) plus any distinguishing info (e.g., Limited Release).
- Open/Closed Status & Fill Level: Mark whether the bottle is open, and roughly how full it is if you’re tracking usage.
- Bottle Ratings: Rate the whiskey yourself, and compare against community averages to see how it stacks up.
- Spirit Type & Sub-Type: Whether it’s bourbon, rum, or tequila, use sub-types for deeper categorization and better flavor mapping.
- Vintage & Aged Time: Keep track of a bottle’s year and how long it was aged.
- Finish: Note additional aging or finishing details (e.g., finished in Port Casks).
- Batch/Barrel Numbers: Record data for single barrel or limited releases.
- ABV & Proof: Log both or link them so changing one automatically updates the other (requires enabling Link ABV & Proof in preferences).
- Volume (e.g., 750ml): Helps keep an eye on standard vs. special-sized bottles.
- Price: Track the cost of each bottle for personal budgeting or comparison with community price stats.
- User Notes: Add tasting impressions, purchase history, or personal anecdotes.
- Flavor Profile: Use the radar chart to visualize tastes like sweetness, spice, or smoke.

- Save & Sync: WhiskeyMate stores all bottle data in the cloud so you can access it on any device once the feature is fully launched (Android/Web coming soon).
Tips & Best Practices
- Keep it Updated: Update your open/closed status and fill levels for an accurate view of your consumption.
- Use Sub-Types: Classify whiskey into Bourbon, Scotch, Rye, etc., or other spirits (like rum, vodka) to take advantage of specialized flavor profiles.
- Sync Across Devices: Sign in with the same account on iOS, Android, or Web (once released) to seamlessly view and edit data.
- Link ABV & Proof: Speed up data entry by turning on auto-conversion in your Profile preferences.
