How to Add a New Bottle in WhiskeyMate (iOS & Android)

Overview

Adding a bottle to WhiskeyMate lets you track core details (brand, subtitle, barcode/ID, images, notes, and more). On iOS and Android, bottle entry happens from the Add tab (the + icon).

Steps to add a bottle

1. Open Add: Tap Add (the + tab) from the bottom navigation.
2. Set the barcode / ID:
   • Scan: Tap Scan and grant camera permission when prompted.
   • Type/paste: You can also enter the barcode manually.
   • No barcode? Use Generate to create a unique WhiskeyMate ID (starts with WM-).

   Note: A barcode/ID is required to save a bottle entry (scan, type, or generate one).

3. Choose a collection: Select which collection the bottle belongs to. If you don’t have any collections yet, create a collection first.
4. Fill in required fields: At minimum, enter Brand and Subtitle (these are required on current builds).
5. Add photos (optional):
   • iOS: Add front/back images from your photo library or camera (permissions apply).
   • Android: Choose from device or take a photo; when a barcode/ID is present, Android can also offer a WhiskeyMate Gallery option for more picture choices.
6. Save: Tap Save to Collection (iOS) or the save action in the Android form. While saving (and especially while uploading images) you may see a brief Saving… / progress indicator.

Limits (free vs Premium)

• Free bottle limit: On current builds, non-Premium users can be limited to 100 unique bottles. When you hit the cap, saving new bottles is blocked until you upgrade.
• iOS capacity credits (if available): iOS can allow saving beyond the cap if you have capacity credits available; credits are checked during the save flow.

Tips

• Start simple: A barcode/ID + brand + subtitle is enough to begin; you can add more fields later.
• Keep your barcode clean: Avoid special characters—clients validate barcodes for illegal characters.
